WHO IS RAJASTHAN ROYALS CAPTAIN FOR IPL 2022?

Rajasthan Royals is a very well-known team popular for its records and winning the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League. It is a big title that they won in the first edition of the tournament. The team always had a philosophy to back up the youngsters. Also, because of this theory which is followed by the team, they picked Sanju Samson as their captain in the year 2022. 

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE TEAM

The franchise of this team was owned by the famous Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty and his husband Raj Kundra, and the team resulted out to be the least expensive one in the whole scenario. 

The team is lucky enough to consistently score and make some good records in the IPL history. The young players are always there to show their calibre and excellent skills in the field. The team has also gone through some controversies of getting banned for 2 years. 

But the team always worked to pick up the quality players instead of the quantity. The team always managed to pick up the brilliant players who had this thing to make the team touch the height with their scores and performance.

• SHANE WARNE (2008-2011)

Who does not know Shane Warne? He is undoubtedly the best spinner in sports history who has been showing his great skills. The team bought him for USD 450,000, and with great honour, he was made the team’s captain. Everyone was really happy with the captaincy news as he is a great player who can make the team win. 

That thing got proved in the first edition of the tournament only when the team won the first title of the Indian Premier League. 

The team managed to defeat the team of Delhi Daredevils. Then the team went on the way to defeat the Chennai Superkings. But after that, in the three years of his captaincy, he was not able to handle the team, and there was not much success shown in any of his matches. Then in 2011, as a result, he got retired from all the positions in his cricket journey. 

The team played 55 matches under his captaincy, won 30 and lost 24.

• RAHUL DRAVID (2012-2013)

He is a player known for his great skills, the Indian Legend in the cricket field. After Shane Warne got retired, someone had to come to take up the captaincy for the team. Then he took up the charge for the team. The team performed very well under his captaincy and made many new changes. 

The team also made its way again to Champions League 2013, which incidentally came out to be Rahul’s last match in professional cricket. In the overview, the team has played 40 games under his captaincy in which they won 23 and lost 17 of them. 

He is undoubtedly one of the best players and captains on the cricket field. 

• SHANE WATSON (2008-2015)

He is a famous Australian all-rounder and has played for Rajasthan Royals since the start. He scored 472 runs and also picked up 17 wickets in the season of 2008 IPL. He was also given the captaincy of the team when Shane Warne was rested ahead of the semi-finals. He is one great player who has shown some legendary performances and has managed to give an excellent skill throughout. 

Then in 2014, he was handled with the full captaincy for the Rajasthan Royals team. But after that, the team got banned from IPL for 2 years, and then there was the end of Watson’s relation with the Rajasthan Royals team. 

But the player managed to show a lot of success for the team before that.

• STEVE SMITH (2014-2020)

The player is one hell of a good one and has shown some good records in the team. He was purchased in the 2014 auction by the team for Rs.4 Crores. He was also the stand-in-skipper in the first four matches of IPL 2015 until the time when Shane Watson showed his return to the team. 

Then the team introduced themselves again in the year 2018, and Smith was the only player who got retained in the team. Then he was given the full-time captaincy in the year 2019. The player-led 27 matches in which he won 15 and lost 11 of them. 

• AJINKYA RAHANE (2018-2019)

He has been a part of the Rajasthan Royals team for many years, and he has presented a decent and very integral role in the team. He did an excellent job handling the captaincy for the team, but eventually, it lost to Kolkata Knight Riders. 

In the overview, the team played 24 matches and won 9 of them only. 

• SANJU SAMSON (2021-PRESENT)

He is one of the most talented cricketers on the Indian circuit. He has shown some great performances, which all have appraised. He has been a part of the team since 2013, and then he got back again in the team in 2018. 

He tackled the captaincy with great enthusiasm and has shown some top performances. He is still the captain, and let us see what he does with the team.
